The critical end point of quantum chromodynamics
We investigate the critical end point (CEP) of QCD with two flavours of light dynamical quarks at finite lattice cutoff a = 1/4T using a Taylor expansion of the baryon number susceptibility. We find a strong volume dependence of the position of the critical end point. In the large volume limit we obtain T /Tc ≈ 0.95 and μE B /T E ≈ 1.1, where Tc is the cross over temperature at zero chemical po...

متن کاملQuantum Boltzmann equation study for the Kondo breakdown quantum critical point.
We develop the quantum Boltzmann equation approach for the Kondo breakdown quantum critical point, involved with two bands for conduction electrons and localized fermions. Particularly, the role of vertex corrections in transport is addressed, crucial for non-Fermi liquid transport with temperature linear dependence. Only one band of spinons may be considered for scattering with gauge fluctuati...
متن کاملQuantum Critical Behavior of the Anisotropic Kondo Necklace Model
We have studied the effect of anisotropies on the quantum phase transition of the Kondo necklace model in dimensions D=1, 2 and 3. Both the anisotropy δ of the inter-site interaction term and anisotropy ∆ of the on-site Kondo interaction have been included. We use a bond operator method with constraints implemented in mean field approximation. Starting from the paramagnetic phase we determine t...
متن کاملQuantum critical Kondo destruction in the Bose-Fermi Kondo model with a local transverse field
Recent studies of the global phase diagram of quantum-critical heavy-fermion metals prompt consideration of the interplay between the Kondo interactions and quantum fluctuations of the local moments alone. Toward this goal, we study a Bose-Fermi Kondo model (BFKM) with Ising anisotropy in the presence of a local transverse field that generates quantum fluctuations in the local-moment sector. We...
